Explore Our Sessions
General Class Structure
Moss & Fern currently offers mobile, small, supportive art classes where students explore creative materials at their own pace. Each 4-week session focuses on a single artistic medium, allowing learners to build skills gradually. During the first three weeks, students explore different techniques, and in the fourth week they combine what they have learned into a final project of their own design.
Classes are designed to be welcoming for neurodivergent learners, children with a wide range of skills and abilities, and mixed-age groups. Siblings and family groups are encouraged to enroll together, and are eligible for an enrollment discount.
-
• 20 minutes of gentle movement, yoga, or breathing exercises to help students settle into the creative space.
• A short introduction to the week’s artistic technique, along with an artist, time period, or culture that helps provide context and inspiration.
• Extended time for creative exploration, allowing students to experiment with materials and techniques at their own pace.
• An optional opportunity for quiet reflection or sharing as we clean up and bring the class to a close.

At Moss & Fern, we strive to create a learning environment where students feel safe, seen, and heard, and where they have agency in their creative choices.
We believe art is inherently inclusive and universal.
We believe everyone is an artist, regardless of their ability to perfectly reproduce what they see or imagine.
We believe artistic exploration supports emotional and social growth, builds confidence, and helps learners develop their own unique voice.
We believe the creative process is more important than a polished final product.
We believe responsible educators practice self-awareness and support young people in regulating their emotions by showing up calm, present, and ready to listen.
